Moroccan Man Faces Deportation After Disputed Hospital Incident in Spain

The Moroccan who would have tried to self-immolate with his wife and baby at the Son Llàtzer hospital in Palma on Friday, denies the facts. The authorities would rather have taken the baby away from the couple and are about to deport the 31-year-old man to Morocco.
"Everything that has been said and published in the press is a lie. We did not barricade ourselves anywhere and we did not threaten to set fire to the hospital. The only truth is that I was giving birth and that doctors came with two security guards to take my baby. We recorded it and we are ready to go as far as necessary," explains the devastated woman to Ultima Hora.
Next to her was the father of the child, a 31-year-old Moroccan who speaks little Spanish. The couple requested anonymity. "They tried to trick us from the start. They asked us to sign papers and that they would then give me my daughter. When the doctor realized that my husband was recording him, he decided to leave the room and continue talking from outside. In the end, we realized that what they wanted was for us to sign the renunciation of our baby," adds the baby’s mother.
The woman specifies that "in addition to having stolen our daughter, they gave my companion a deadline of five days to leave the country. Everything is in the hands of my lawyer and the videos will be revealed." The Moroccan, who reportedly learned that he was about to lose custody of his newborn, would have locked himself in the room where his wife, who had just given birth, and the baby were, and would have threatened to self-immolate and "set fire to the maternity ward."
