Many neighbors alerted the emergency services of a fire in a hut located near the Lepe cemetery. The Huelva firefighters, the Civil Guard, the Lepe local police, the health agents and the Red Cross immediately went to the scene and found the lifeless body of the young Moroccan inside the hut.
Sources close to the investigation told EFE that the victim lived in this hut with three other Moroccans and two Senegalese. Among them, a Moroccan was burned on the hand and was taken care of by the health agents. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the death as well as the causes of the fire. The Lepe town council, for its part, deplored the death of the young Moroccan.
During a press conference, the Minister of Equality, Social Policies and Reconciliation, Rocío Ruiz, presented the government’s condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones, and assured that measures are being taken for the construction of a residence for seasonal workers in Lepe.
Next week, an agreement will be signed with the Ministry of Inclusion and the municipalities for the development of a project aimed at "offering housing solutions" to the latter and "once and for all" solving the problem of slums and unhealthy housing, she concluded.
