Moroccan Man Attempts Suicide After Atlantic Crossing Scam in Dakhla

A man tried to set himself on fire in Dakhla. He would have been scammed by smugglers who promised him the crossing of the Atlantic.
Oussama Ahoudik, a 23-year-old Moroccan, tried to end his life after seeing his dream shattered, reports Courrier international. The sum of 2,000 euros he was able to raise to ensure his crossing to the Canary Islands was collected by smugglers who then disappeared. Like Ahoudik, several young people have also been scammed.
After his act of despair, the victim was transferred to the Hassan-II hospital in Dakhla. His health condition is still critical, according to his relatives.
