Moroccan Man Arrested in Spain for Sexual Assault and Labor Exploitation of Compatriot

The police in Murcia have arrested a 39-year-old Moroccan man, accused of sexually assaulting and exploiting a Moroccan woman for about two and a half years.

Following the victim’s complaint, agents from the Provincial Immigration and Documentation Brigade (UCRIF) of Murcia opened an investigation that led, on February 9, to the arrest of the Moroccan who will be prosecuted for the crimes of sexual assault, labor exploitation, attack on moral integrity, and for injuries and threats.

The victim worked 15 hours a day during the first year and a half of work. With the health crisis and the restrictive measures put in place, the working hours were reduced to 12 hours a day, from Monday to Sunday, without any right to leave. In return, the victim was supposed to receive a salary. But the Moroccan boss chose, at his discretion, to pay her according to the good or less good nature of the daily receipts.

The search carried out by the National Police in the establishments run by the Moroccan made it possible to seize a large quantity of documents attesting to his illegal activity of labor exploitation. As for the victim, she was entrusted to an NGO in order to receive the necessary help and assistance for her recovery, after the trauma she suffered. The Moroccan woman is in an illegal situation and the mother of children who remained in Morocco.
