Moroccan Man Arrested in Majorca for Online Jihadist Propaganda and Weapons Charge

An alleged jihadist of Moroccan origin was arrested on Thursday in Campos (Majorca). The National Police Information Brigade is investigating whether he has contacts on the island.
For the moment, the investigations have not revealed any link between the jihadist and people residing in Majorca. The accused had radicalized his discourse on social networks and openly incited his subscribers to carry out attacks against Spanish police officers. He was arrested on Thursday for jihadist indoctrination and illegal possession of a weapon, reports Última Hora.
Rachid’s activities on social networks were detected in September by the General Information Commissariat (CGI) of the National Police, which later discovered that the defendant had created different profiles to disseminate his messages of hatred and reach more targets. Born in Spain but of Moroccan origin, he openly threatened to carry out attacks against the police, civil servants, politicians and the military, and described himself as a "jihadist, mujahideen and Allah’s hitman".
The defendant did not have a fixed residence in Spain. He connected with his mobile phone, wherever he was, and continued his jihadist propaganda. At the beginning of this year, he had gone to Egypt and would have contacted Islamic organizations and received training to carry out attacks. He was arrested at the Sudanese border, which he was trying to cross illegally, and was sent back to Spain where he continued to propagate the ideology of the Islamic State (Daesh).
