Moroccan Man Arrested for Fraud and Rape in Marriage Scam Targeting Women

The elements of the territorial center of the Royal Gendarmerie in Kelaat M’Gouna have put out of action a 36-year-old man wanted for rape and fraud. His appearance before the competent public prosecutor’s office should take place this Tuesday, April 9.
Complying with the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Tinghir, the elements of the territorial center of the Royal Gendarmerie in Kelaat M’Gouna proceeded to arrest a 36-year-old person for his involvement in the fraud of young women wishing to get married and the embezzlement of their money. His modus operandi consists of targeting young women aged between thirty and forty. Then, he convinces them that he wanted to marry them before extorting and extracting money from them. Among his victims, a minor to whom he made believe that he is a well-off Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) with projects and money abroad. He promised her marriage before defrauding her.
The arrested man was the subject of four warrants issued on the instructions of the Attorney General of the King near the Royal Gendarmerie in Skoura, Ouarzazate, and the National Security in Ouarzazate for rape. The public prosecutor’s office extended the custody period of the accused in order to deepen the investigation.
