Moroccan Man Arrested in Ceuta for Alleged Attempt to Abandon Wife in Morocco

A Moroccan man was arrested on Saturday in the disembarkation area of the port of Ceuta, as he was trying to forcibly take his wife, also of Moroccan origin, to their home country, and abandon her there before returning to France alone with their baby.
The local police station in Algeciras alerted the national police agents in Ceuta who located and intercepted the vehicle in which the Moroccan family was traveling. Both parents were questioned. The woman confessed to an agent fluent in Arabic that she had argued with her husband because he wanted "to take her to Morocco against her will and separate her from her son," an infant. The man, on the other hand, claimed that "he had taken her to France and was taking her back to Morocco," reports Melilla Hoy.
After verifications, the agents found that the woman had a Schengen visa that had expired. Her return to Europe was therefore no longer possible, once she had returned to Morocco. The man, on the other hand, had a round-trip visa for himself and their son. The Moroccan had also confiscated his wife’s mobile phone, which, after recovering it, she contacted her relatives on the peninsula "who had not been able to reach her for two days." The accused will be prosecuted for an alleged crime of gender-based violence.
