Moroccan Man Arrested in Belgium for Gruesome Murder of Woman in France

Saïd B., a 48-year-old Moroccan, was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of Diana Santos, a 40-year-old woman found dismembered and decapitated in Mont-Saint-Martin (France) a few days ago.
The naked, dismembered and decapitated body of Diana was discovered by a teenager on September 19 in Mont-Saint-Martin (France), near the Belgian border. The minor was looking for a place to urinate and came across the woman’s remains lying on a pile of debris behind a building, Sudinfo reports.
The investigation led by the Luxembourg judicial police made it possible to locate and arrest Saïd B., of Moroccan origin, suspected of being the perpetrator of this barbaric act or of being involved in Diana’s homicide. The suspect would be the uncle of the victim’s husband, one Gibran B., also of Moroccan origin. Diana Santos and the latter were living in a rented house in Diekirch (Luxembourg).
Pending the outcome of the investigation, João, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, made sensational statements about her, claiming that Diana Santos had recently married Gibran B. with the promise of receiving a sum of 45,000 euros. It was apparently a maneuver to allow the latter to obtain Portuguese nationality by filiation in order to become a European citizen and move freely within the Union.
Diana Santos would have ultimately received only 20,000 euros of the promised amount. And although she was married, she would have continued to have a relationship with João. But the latter denies any involvement in her murder and accuses Saïd B. The defendant was presented on Friday to the investigating judge in Diekirch, who ordered his detention on remand at the Schrassig prison (Luxembourg). He is accused of murder and homicide.
