Moroccan Man’s 1,500-km Walk from France to Morocco Raises Funds for Orphanages

Amine, a Moroccan living in Bordeaux, has decided to go to Morocco on foot to raise funds for several orphanages in Morocco. He started his journey on October 3 and has already arrived in the Malaga region in Spain.
The 24-year-old young man will have walked the 1,500 kilometers separating Bordeaux from Morocco in order to help several orphanages in Morocco, including the one in Beni Mellal. He arrived in Malaga on November 14. At this stage of the journey, he has already raised a little over 6,300 euros. Amine was received by the authorities of the municipal council of La Carolina (Jaen), in particular the councilors in charge of social policies and youth.
The two officials praised his initiative and took care of his accommodation in the city. "This is an important testimony of life. Crossing two countries on foot for the sole purpose of raising funds for orphans. This is a beautiful initiative of solidarity. It is admirable to see people leave the comfort of their home for the sole purpose of helping the most vulnerable," they said.
With a backpack weighing about fifteen kilos, Amine covers about 30 kilometers each day. He has a daily budget of 30 euros which is barely enough to cover his needs, which sometimes leads him to spend the night under the stars, he says. Amine has the support of the association Kafala.fr, which helps orphanages in Morocco through donations and assists people who want to take care of an orphan.
