Moroccan Lawyers Challenge Vaccine Pass Mandate at UN, Citing Freedom Concerns

Moroccan lawyers, anti-vaccine pass, have announced that they have appealed to the UN to challenge the government’s decision, and to obtain the cancellation of the decision imposing the vaccine pass in the courts.
The association of Moroccan bar associations has sent a letter to the UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, Diego García-Sayán, denouncing a restriction of freedoms, concerning the vaccine pass.
Specifically, the lawyers have asked the UN official to intervene with the Moroccan judicial authorities to cancel the circular imposing the vaccine pass on the judicial bodies and all litigants from December 20.
These challengers also ask the UN Special Rapporteur to remind the Moroccan authorities of their duties in terms of human rights and fundamental freedoms. Duties that ensure the protection of lawyers and guarantee their independence.
For the association, this decision is illegal and contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of the Kingdom. "The decision of the three judicial authorities affects the independence of lawyers and the immunity of the defense. It violates the principles of the rights of the defense recognized for citizens," it specified.
