Moroccan Justice Minister Seeks Royal Pardon for Rif Protest Detainees

The detainees of the Rif popular movement could soon regain their freedom. This is at least the wish of the Minister of Justice, who will request a pardon from King Mohammed VI.
It is the Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi who announced it, Wednesday, during the "Confidences de Presse" program on the 2M television channel.
The minister indeed said that he was about to file a request for pardon with King Mohammed VI for the detainees of these demonstrations called "Hirak" of the Rif, which took place in 2015. And to specify that the king is the only one to have full powers to make such a decision.
"This procedure is under discussion with the ministers and officials of the ministry because I really want to release the detainees of the Rif," he confided, adding that he had not wanted to exploit this issue during the last elections.
