Moroccan Immigrants Dominate Spanish Citizenship Grants in Ceuta

165 foreign residents in Ceuta became Spanish citizens in 2019. Among them, 148 Moroccans, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
With the exception of a few South Americans, the people who were naturalized in 2019 are mainly Moroccans (90%). This is partly due to the border that Morocco shares with Ceuta. Unlike the previous year, which saw the naturalization of 178 Moroccans, the procedures seem more rigorous since the arrival of Pedro Sànchez at the Moncloa in June 2018, reports El Faro de ceuta.
The 2019 statistics clearly show that the female gender is favored: 92 women for 73 men. Regarding the age distribution, minors (0 to 9 years old) are in the lead with 61 children naturalized as Spaniards. The second most important age group in terms of obtaining Spanish documents is 35 to 39 years old, with 23 people. And finally, 19 adults between the ages of 40 and 44.
