Moroccan Households Express Growing Concern Over Rising Costs and Savings Ability, Survey Finds

A survey conducted by the High Commission for Planning (HCP) during the second quarter of 2019, shows a flagrant pessimism of Moroccan households, regarding their savings capacity and the cost of living.
More than 83% of the households surveyed believe they have been unable to save money over the next twelve months. According to the HCP, the trend of the figures remains very negative, compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year.
Food prices, on the other hand, have recorded a clear increase, according to the opinion of 89% of households. This upward trend in prices, according to the survey, should continue over the first twelve months.
The HCP survey denotes a pessimistic social climate, as well as a lack of confidence in a better future, especially since 8 out of 10 Moroccans do not trust their purchasing power or their savings capacity, even in the near future.
