Moroccan Household Confidence Declines in Q4 2021, HCP Survey Reveals

The results of the permanent household survey conducted by the High Commission for Planning (HCP) show, overall, that the confidence of Moroccan households has deteriorated in the 4th quarter of 2021.
The household confidence index (ICM), whose components relate to households’ perception of changes in living standards, unemployment, the opportunity to make durable goods purchases and their financial situation, stood at 61.2 points, i.e. a stagnation compared to the same quarter of 2020 and a decline compared to the previous quarter, indicates the HCP.
According to the HCP, 29.4% of households expect a deterioration in living standards over the next 12 months, 42.5% expect it to remain at the same level and 28.1% expect an improvement. 84% against 6.4% of households expect an increase in unemployment.
The survey also indicates that in the fourth quarter, 15.2% against 84.7% of households expect to save over the next 12 months.
It also indicates that households’ opinion on the evolution of the quality of health services has improved in 2021 compared to 2020. 52.7% against 17% of households perceive that the quality of the environmental protection situation has improved in 2021.
Regarding the human rights situation in 2021, 18.2% of households think that it has deteriorated against 15.8% recorded in 2020.
