Moroccan Hip-Hop Dominates Spotify: Stormy’s "Africain" Tops Summer Charts

This summer, the hip hop trend is in vogue in Morocco. According to information provided by Spotify, rapper Stormy is largely in the lead.
For the summer of 2020, Stormy’s title "Africain" has been designated the "most streamed song". Meanwhile, his collaboration with Khtek and Tagne on the hit "Fratello" comes in second place ahead of Snor’s "Lalala".
The new elements provided by Spotify testify to the ever-growing interest of Moroccans in hip hop. Among the artists supported by the public, Stormy enjoys great esteem. The rapper is also in fifth place in the ranking with "Si tu savais", a track he co-created with Anys.
Several other rappers are also featured on Spotify’s Rap Maroc playlist. We will notably retain DaBaby, with his title "Rockstar" featuring Roddy Ricch, which has established itself as the most listened to song of the summer and one of the biggest hits of the year on the very popular Rap Caviar playlist on Spotify. A success that the rapper had actually seen coming: "I knew Rockstar was going to be a hit while I was making the record," he confessed, before admitting that it "was an incredible feeling to see the world turn it into a global smash."
For its part, "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd emerges as the second most listened to song this summer, followed by an optimistic jam, "Roses - Imanbek Remix" by SAINt JHN, Spotify points out. We will also remember "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)" by Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685, or "Watermelon Sugar" by Harry Styles.
