Moroccan Hairdresser Offers Free Haircuts to Malaga’s Homeless, Inspiring Change

Isaac Bousnane is a hairdresser of Moroccan origin living in Malaga. His particularity is that he offers his services free of charge to the homeless in the city and encourages them to change their lives.
The 35-year-old man has become the hairdresser of the homeless in Malaga. Every morning, he puts on his backpack containing his work tools and sets out to roam the parks, squares and corners where these homeless people, estimated at around 150 according to the data of the municipal social rights service, usually wander.
Isaac made the decision to "do this for the rest of his life" after noticing the large number of homeless people in Marbella where he lived. In reality, these people "don’t really need a haircut; what they appreciate the most is to let off steam and have someone to listen to them," he explains to Diario Sur, adding that he takes advantage of these exchanges to encourage them and restore their confidence in order to change their lives.

"Most of the people in this situation have problems with alcohol or drugs or have problems with their loved ones... The tragedy is that they think they will never be able to get out of it and start over from scratch," laments Bousnane, arguing that starting from nothing to rebuild oneself is very possible. He is living proof of this, he assures, confiding that he has rebuilt his life by starting "from less than zero," after his business partners disappeared with his money.
Isaac is aware that the task is certainly not easy, but not impossible either. "These people need a helping hand to regain their self-esteem," says the Moroccan, whose goal is to see his initiative emulated, and that other hairdressers in Malaga and other cities assist these people who find themselves in a situation of extreme vulnerability. "I’ve learned a lot since I started doing this. I realize how lucky I am and I meet people who are sometimes not treated like human beings," laments the hairdresser.
