Moroccan Groups Address Rising Racist Attacks Against Immigrants in Spain

The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and the Association of Moroccan Immigrant Workers (ATIM) organized a working meeting on Monday in Tangier to discuss the various racist attacks that have multiplied against the Moroccan community in Spain.
During this meeting, Moroccan association leaders, including Mohamed El Gheryb Ghailan, president of ATIM and Sabah Yacoubi Channig, president of the Murcia section of ATIM, informed the president of the CCME, Driss El Yazami, of the latest developments in the situation in Spain, particularly in Murcia, according to a joint press release reported by La MAP.
In this regard, the Moroccan side mentioned the racist-tinged assaults that have been perpetrated on Moroccan nationals in recent days in the region, as evidenced by the shooting death of Younes Blal.
In order to support the legal action of ATIM in this case, "it was decided to study the feasibility of the constitution of Moroccan lawyers in this file," adds the same source.
In addition, the discussions also focused on ATIM’s action in other areas such as the defense of the rights of Moroccan migrants, the association’s cultural activities... and the modalities of any support that the CCME could provide for these actions.
The modalities of partnership that could be envisaged between the Council and ATIM, such as studies following the joint action taken during the repatriation of the remains of the late Younes Blal, were not overlooked, the statement concluded.
