Moroccan Grandmother’s Two-Year Ordeal: Stranded in Turkey After Stroke, Family Pleads for Repatriation

A 73-year-old Moroccan citizen named Atika has been stranded in Turkey for two years following a cerebral hemorrhage. Her state of health renders her incapable of movement and prevents her return to Morocco.
According to information provided by her family, steps have been taken with the Moroccan authorities. Correspondence has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Moroccan embassy in Turkey. The family claims to have received no official response to these requests.
As a result, Atika’s son has made the situation public via social media. He mentions the deterioration of his mother’s health over time, as well as the treatment and accommodation costs, which represent a significant financial burden. In his communication, he refers to the institutions supposed to guarantee the protection of citizens abroad.
The family is requesting an intervention to organize Atika’s repatriation. The objective is to ensure her access to appropriate medical and logistical care in Morocco. An appeal for solidarity has been launched by her relatives to make their situation known and support their request.
