Moroccan Governor’s Lavish Café Opening Sparks Controversy Amid City Project Delays

One might think it’s a joke, but it’s not. The governor of Safi has simply inaugurated a café. While many public projects in the city are (very) behind schedule.
Houssine Chaynan, the Governor of the city of Safi, is said to have inaugurated a café, right next to his residence located in the Sidi Bouzid region. In a photo, we see the Governor in his best attire, scissors, ribbon in the colors of Morocco, and even a young girl carrying a cushion on which the pair of scissors intended to cut the ribbon was placed.
Some media, such as Telemaroc, which reports this information, take the opportunity to remind the Governor that such a private enterprise and investment in a context where many projects in the city of Safi are delayed, are perfectly inopportune.
Telemaroc writes: "a number of projects in the city of Safi, supervised by Houcine Chaynan since his appointment three years ago, have been blocked or are experiencing significant delays: The Corniche project, the project to extend the sewage network and the construction of a wastewater treatment plant inaugurated by the King in 2013 at a cost of several billion and which is not yet completed..."
Maybe after a good coffee...
