New Moroccan Government Faces Economic and Pandemic Challenges Under Akhannouch

The formation of the new government is the priority of the moment for the leader of the National Rally of Independents (RNI). In this sense, Aziz Akhannouch launched on Monday consultations to come up with the list of the new team that must face a series of challenges.

There are many challenges and issues awaiting the new coalition that will be formed in the coming days. These include getting out of this Covid-19 pandemic crisis, reviving the economy, achieving the expected growth, fighting current inequalities caused by the pandemic. The new government will take advantage of the royal roadmap and the foundations of the major reforms announced by the King, to achieve its objectives. This new government, which will be led by Aziz Akhannouch, will also amend the 2022 finance law and will have to deal with problems related to health, education, employment, the informal economy, support for investment, the revision of the tax system and the support of major projects already launched including the "Made in Morocco" brand, and others.

For Khalid Achibane, a researcher in economics, "priority will be given to the files of education, health and employment," specifying that in addition to putting the economy in order, the new coalition will also deal with the problem of job creation. For his part, Khalid Fathi, professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy and researcher in health policies, believes that "the next global project is health." He stressed in the same context that "Morocco has launched major strategic plans, which are the new development model, in addition to the social protection project launched by King Mohammed VI."

It should be noted that in addition to these multiple challenges facing the new government, the RNI has already developed its own program based on five commitments and 25 projects, including the creation of income for people over 65, the establishment of free health care and health insurance for the needy, the generalization of health coverage for workers, the opening of the right to a pension for all workers, even in the informal sector and many other projects.
