Moroccan Gendarmerie Deploys Drones to Combat Cannabis Trafficking Near Tangier

The multiplication of cannabis storage depots in the suburbs located between Tangier and Larache is pushing the gendarmerie services to use drones to track down the traffickers.
The drone has become a valuable tool for the services of the Royal Gendarmerie. They use this new weapon as part of a vast operation whose objective is to surround the mountainous areas to track down the cannabis storage depots that are multiplying in the suburbs located between Tangier and Larache and detect by ricochet the places where this plant is grown, reports the Arabic-language daily Assabah.
The operation was a success. Nearly 40 tons of cannabis were seized by the gendarmes in a depot in the commune of Zâaroura. They also came across tons of cannabis stored by an elected official inside his house. The latter is on the run. The competent public prosecutor’s office in Tangier has even issued a national arrest warrant against him.
