Moroccan Futsal Star Jasmine Demraoui Shines in Africa Cup of Nations Triumph

African champion and best player of the Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Morocco, Atlas Lioness Jasmine Demraoui has started her international career well.

The international adventure is off to a good start for Jasmine Demraoui. She succeeded, wearing the Atlas Lionesses jersey, in her participation in the Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Morocco 2025). The footballer made a strong impression throughout the competition. "Just thinking about it gives me chills. It was incredible," she tells France 3 Franche-Comté. On Wednesday, the Besançon Académie Futsal player and member of the 11-a-side football club US Saint-Vit scored the winning goal against Tanzania in the final. "I received a very strong pass. Fortunately, I didn’t mess up my control. I used a toe poke, and I aimed for a small angle. At first, I fell because the Tanzanian player tackled me. Then I saw that it was a goal. Oh... there was too much emotion. I was so happy. It was a relief. I was overjoyed," she recounts.

Morocco won 3-2 against Tanzania at the end of a fiercely contested final, thus securing their ticket to the first Women’s Futsal World Cup to be held in the Philippines in 2026. Jasmine is delighted to have realized her dream of becoming a champion with Morocco. "Lifting the cup... It was a dream to be African champion with my country, Morocco. It’s a source of pride," says the Franco-Moroccan, originally from Saint-Claude (Jura). Her joy was multiplied when she was named the best player of the tournament. "I said to myself: ’It feels like you’re in a dream’. I can’t even realize that I’m African champion," admits the player who has only been playing club futsal for three seasons, but who learned to kick the ball with the older kids in her neighborhood, in 5-a-side games on a small field.

After this double triumph, Jasmine is already thinking about her next challenge. "I’m also looking forward to the World Cup in 2026... Hoping that I’ll be selected, that we continue like this," concludes the 21-year-old player.
