Moroccan Fuel Prices Set to Drop 50 Cents, Bringing Relief to Motorists

After a period of stability, fuel prices are expected to see a slight drop, much to the delight of Moroccan motorists.
Starting Saturday, December 16, diesel and gasoline prices will drop by 50 cents, Hespress reports. Fuels will therefore be less expensive for Moroccan consumers. Prices have remained stable in recent days due to a stable movement internationally. The barrel price is maintained at around $80. "As the prices of refined products, diesel and gasoline have evolved following a stable movement internationally, theoretically, prices in Morocco will not change, at least over the next two weeks," Mostafa Labrak, general manager of Energysium consulting, explained at the end of November, as quoted by Les Inspirations Éco.
However, this constant contraction in barrel prices does not immediately impact the Moroccan market. Moroccan consumers can benefit from this drop after a month or more. Moroccan imports of fuels only concern refined products, as the Moroccan Société Anonyme de l’Industrie et du Raffinage (SAMIR) no longer plays its role. It would be the ideal solution to the surge in prices.
The rise and fall in fuel prices is also explained by several factors, which vary depending on the global economic situation and government policies (subsidies, etc.). These include fluctuations in crude oil prices and exchange rates, supply and demand, but also "interconnected factors that can vary over time," it is specified.
