Moroccan Football Star Aboukhlal at Center of Media Controversy

The Zakaria Aboukhlal case continues to create turmoil. After the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), it is the National Press Council’s turn to condemn the remarks contained in an article from an electronic site on the alleged proselytism of the Moroccan player.
The CNDP "warns against the danger of a sensationalist drift, all the more so as some foreign media have tried to tarnish the Moroccan national team, by distorting the behavior of its players, which are spontaneous expressions of their authentic, cultural and family values".
For the CNDP, "responsibility [...] would have commanded [...] more prudence and vigilance when publishing allegations far removed from the sports field, the success of the Moroccan national team, the spirit of perseverance and sacrifice, and attachment to patriotism".
Earlier in the day, the FRMF had strongly condemned the article on the achkayne site accusing the Moroccan player of promoting the Salafist rite in general and in particular among the players of the national team.
