Moroccan Football League Poised to Resume Despite COVID-19 Challenges

The spread of the coronavirus could not lead to a blank year for the Botola, according to some officials of national football.
In Morocco, there is hope for the resumption of the championship, despite the toll of people infected with the coronavirus. A member of the National Professional Football League (LNFP) argues that the Moroccan championship should in principle resume, once the covid-19 epidemic has ended, and whatever the conditions.
In the event of the continuation of the state of health emergency and confinement in Morocco, nothing excludes the resumption of the Botola during the month of May, June or even July. For the official, the non-resumption of the Moroccan championship will have very serious repercussions.
For the time being, no precise date is put forward. This depends on the evolution of the health situation in the country and the decision of the Moroccan authorities. If the possibility of declaring a blank year was initially discussed by the authorities, it would be impossible in the absence of a regulatory text on the matter.
As for the Moroccan clubs, they have all suspended training and released their players. The best the clubs can do is to follow a remote training program with the players so that the latter are not forced to leave their homes.
