Moroccan Football Federation Plans Phased Return of Fans to Stadiums

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is seriously considering authorizing the return of the public to the stadiums. It was in March 2020 that the FRMF had announced the suspension of all football competitions following the lockdown that was imposed in Morocco, but also around the world, to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
The return of the public to the stadiums will be done under well-defined conditions, since the threat of spread is still present, due to the many variants in circulation. According to Assabah, the FRMF and the Ministry of the Interior are reflecting on the issue to see the strategies to be adopted so that the decision does not lead to other consequences. The news is very well received by the actors in the sector, who are financially asphyxiated.
The decision will be implemented after the formation of Aziz Akhannouch’s government. But according to the newspaper, access to the enclosures will not be done without the presentation of the health pass. Similarly, minors will be prohibited as long as they do not have this pass and must also be accompanied by an adult.
The FRMF has also thought of filling the stadiums progressively. For example, the Mohammed V Complex, the Moulay Abdallah Complex, the large stadiums of Marrakech, Tangier and Fez, which can accommodate more than 45,000 spectators, will be authorized to accommodate only 10,000. The others must not exceed 2,000 spectators.
