Moroccan Football Clubs Face Financial Crisis as Coronavirus Halts Matches

The coronavirus is hitting Moroccan clubs hard. A total loss of 15 million dirhams has already been recorded.
The new coronavirus has caused the suspension of the national championship and continental competitions for several clubs. As a result, these clubs have lost 15 million DH.
The two big Casablanca clubs, Raja and Wydad, are the most affected by this crisis. They no longer earn the significant sums of money generated by the many supporters or sponsors. As a result, they are struggling to cope with payroll costs.
The large Moroccan clubs spend up to 2 million DH per month to pay salaries, while the small clubs pay 600,000 DH. The latter (Moghreb de Tétouan, Raja de Béni Mellal or Hassania d’Agadir) also fear imminent bankruptcy.
