Moroccan Football Chief Suspended for One Year by CAF After Referee Altercation

Fouzi Lekjaâ, boss of Renaissance sportive de Berkane (RSB) and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has just been suspended for a period of one year by the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This decision follows his altercation with the Ethiopian referee, Bamelak Tessama, during the final of the African Confederation Cup.
Fouzi Lekjaâ is not at the end of his troubles! Barely out of a failed participation of the Atlas Lions in the CAN, he already has to face a sanction emanating from the governing body of African football, CAF.
We remember the emergency meeting of the President of the FRMF in Cairo with coach Hervé Renard, to understand the reasons for the defeat of the Lions against the underdogs that were the Squirrels of Benin, who managed to eliminate Morocco.
While the President of the FRMF is struggling to solve all these equations that are the defeat of the Lions and the departure of Hervé Renard, it is the CAF that is responsible for inflicting a sanction on him that further adds to his worries. This CAF decision is motivated by an appeal filed by the Ethiopian Football Federation against the Moroccan football boss.
Indeed, a meeting was held this Tuesday morning, July 9, in Cairo, during which the CAF Disciplinary Committee heard Fouzi Lekjaâ. After which, he was suspended in his capacity as President of the RSB. This sanction does not concern his position at the FRMF.
