Moroccan Football Agents Exploit Legal Loopholes to Amass Undeclared Wealth

The majority of agents and intermediaries of Moroccan football players work in the black market, amassing fortunes, avoiding declaring their income and not putting their name in the contracts.
These agents take advantage of the legal void in national football to make money during transfer operations. They thus avoid declaring their earnings and their turnover to the tax authorities and do not even pay the annual insurance fee.
Unlike the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) does not require agents and intermediaries to mention their name in players’ contracts. This loophole allows them to escape controls.
While the majority of them continue to take advantage of a lack of clear regulations and to transgress conventional laws, some agents and intermediaries have managed to establish themselves on the football scene, by being serious and working within a clear legal framework.
This anarchy has forced the national football authority to put in place new regulations that will make it possible to better supervise the activities of intermediaries. This initiative will have the advantage of identifying the agents who work within a legal framework and detecting the opportunists who escape the system and never declare their income.
