Moroccan Firms Shift to Legal Imports as Cross-Border Smuggling Ends

The illegal introduction of Spanish products into Morocco is over. Moroccan companies now import these products legally.
The decision of the Moroccan authorities to put an end to the "food" smuggling between Morocco and Ceuta and Melilla has forced companies to now import Spanish products. According to Al Massae, these companies are duly constituted and are based in Casablanca. They sell Spanish products, particularly food products, on the Moroccan market.
The packaging of the products indicates the name of the importing company and other information. The prices charged are slightly higher than those of the smuggling, transported by mule women. This is due to the payment of import duties.
Meanwhile, the markets of the northern cities, specialized in the trade of smuggled goods, are experiencing a historic decline in activity. Faced with this situation, Morocco has launched the construction of an economic activity zone in Fnideq, near Ceuta.
