Moroccan Filmmaker Boycotts Israeli Documentary Festival Over BDS Support

Awarded at the last Fidadoc Festival in Agadir, Nadir Bouhmouch has just declined the invitation extended to him by the organizers of the Doc Aviv Documentary Festival, held annually in Israel.
Signatory of the Moroccan Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (MACBI) manifesto, the Moroccan filmmaker does not see himself participating in this Festival.
According to Le360, in a letter circulated on social networks, Nadir Bouhmouch explains the reasons for his refusal.
He says he has actively supported the Manifesto of the Palestinians, launched in 2005, calling for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel.
Also justifying this refusal, there is the fact that his film "Amussu" will be screened in a city inaccessible to Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza.
He says he prefers to wait for the moment when Apartheid collapses so that everyone can have access to the screening, including Palestinian refugees who continue to suffer humiliation of all kinds in their neighborhoods and even in cultural exhibition venues.
For the director, as long as the Palestinians are oppressed, he will refuse to participate in cultural events organized by "an apartheid state".
