Moroccan Fertilizer Giant OCP Plans Factory Expansion in Brazil

The OCP group wants to strengthen its activities in Brazil. The construction of a unit is planned for the transformation of its products directly on site.
The ongoing project was announced by the CEO of the OCP Group, Mostafa Terrab, during a meeting on the sidelines of the official visit of the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) of Brazil, Marcos Montes. According to the official, "having a factory in Brazil would be very valuable," stating that OCP is ready to give priority to the Brazilian market.
For his part, the president of OCP Fertilizantes in Brazil, Olavio Takenaka, provided some details of the project, declaring "we already have the land, six kilometers from the port of Itaqui." It is in the final approval phase by the authorities. The plant will be located in São Luís, the capital of the state of Maranhão, he specified.
The two countries also plan a dicalcium phosphate plant for animal feed, the official said. This product is used as an input and source of phosphorus in animal feed, recalls Challenge.
