Moroccan Fertilizer Giant OCP Challenges France 5 Documentary Claims, Files Complaint

The OCP Group has highlighted the inaccuracies contained in the documentary "Green with Rage: Cursed Fertilizers", broadcast on September 19, 2021 on France 5, and at the same time filed a complaint with the France Télévisions ethics committee.
Regarding cadmium in particular, the main subject of the documentary, the journalist has overlooked scientific evidence, as well as the results of his own investigation refuting the thesis he defends, notes the OCP Group in a press release. Furthermore, the current scientific consensus does not suggest a correlation between the use of phosphate fertilizers and dietary exposure to cadmium, and establishes that the main exposure factors are not related to fertilizers, the same source informs, ensuring that it rigorously complies with the most demanding international regulations in this matter.
"The OCP Group wishes to recall that it attaches a predominant place to sustainable development and works tirelessly to minimize the environmental footprint of its activity, as evidenced by its environmental performance, its constant commitment to local communities, and the ESG ratings it has recently obtained," reassures the phosphate giant.
It also rejects the accusations that it did not respond to the questions addressed by the journalist. It assures that it even offered to send him any additional useful information to fully inform the public. "Faced with the unfounded nature of the allegations made against it, the OCP Group has sent a letter to the France Télévisions ethics committee contesting point by point the allegations and shortcomings of the report," the statement concludes.
