Moroccan Father Embarks on 1,500-Mile E-Bike Journey to Raise Climate Awareness

At 40 years old, Rdoane Rabbah, father of four children, is embarking on the dream of a lifetime, that of cycling from Évreux to Morocco, with the main objective of raising awareness about the environmental cause and the state of the planet.
Rdoane left Évreux to reach Morocco. His itinerary? Blois, Limoges, Toulouse, Narbonne, Perpignan, Barcelona, Murcia, then the Costa del Sol, Malaga, the port of Algeciras, Safi (Morocco). He intends to cover "150 to 200 km per day" with his electric bike that has a 60 km range. "I would like this trip to help raise awareness about the environmental cause and the state of the planet," he explains to Paris Normandie. I will try to document this adventure on social networks, those who wish can follow me on Tiktok, on Snapchat and on Instagram."
He has been preparing for this adventure for six months. "I’ve been wanting to do this trip for a long time. I almost did it in 2012. I’ve always wanted to see the country, but I’ve never really had the opportunity to travel. Now, it’s been six months that I’ve been physically preparing and working on my route. I’m embarking on the dream of a lifetime," says the Gravignais. In his saddlebag, he has a tent, a hammock, a sleeping bag, a few changes of clothes and a poncho for the night.
He knows how to adapt according to the weather conditions, according to the wind, the heat wave. "[...] I plan to get up very early, before sunrise, to avoid the intense heat. If I have to take more time, it doesn’t matter, he relativizes. I clearly don’t have a big budget. To sleep, I’ll go in the forest, sometimes in a campsite, or maybe in people’s gardens if they allow me to." The forty-year-old has adopted a diet "based on cereal bars for fiber, sardines and yogurt". "This adventure is above all a matter of mental strength. I will think a lot about my four children and my father, they encouraged me. They are already in Morocco, seeing them again will be a great reward," he anticipates. And to conclude: "If this adventure is a success, I don’t rule out trying another one."
