Moroccan Farmers Urge Government to Lift Ban on Vegetable Exports

The associations of fruit and vegetable producers and exporters are calling on the government of Aziz Akhannounch to authorize the resumption of exports.
A meeting between the head of government and the representatives of the main agricultural and export confederations, the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER) and the Moroccan Inter-Professional Federation of Fruit and Vegetable Production and Export (FIFEL), was held on Friday in Rabat. The discussions focused in particular on the ban on vegetable exports. On this occasion, the representatives of the inter-professional federations called on the government to lift the ban on vegetable exports, a measure taken on several occasions, in order to lower the prices of food products. They are asking Akhannounch’s team to find a middle ground to supply the local market and allow farmers to export vegetables, while lowering prices.
