The agricultural season is taking on the colors of the fight against the coronavirus. Of the 14,000 expected, the first 500 seasonal workers with valid contracts are expected on December 31. But to make the trip, they had to undergo a PCR test, the result of which was negative, 72 hours before leaving their country, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
These 500 women, according to the general secretary of UPA-Huelva, Manuel Piedra, are mainly regular participants in the agricultural campaign in Huelva. They are part of an initial group of 4,156 seasonal workers. With their visas already in order, they will board at the port of Tanger MED in Morocco to arrive at the port of Algeciras in the evening, before being transported by bus to the province of Huelva.
The system and the number of different groups of seasonal workers are approved by the governments of Spain and Morocco. Gradually, all the seasonal workers will be transported to Huelva before the end of March.
