Moroccan Exporters Push for Tax Reforms Ahead of National Conference

The Moroccan Association of Exporters is taking the lead and making a series of recommendations aimed at easing the tax burden on this sector. This series of reforms to the tax structure comes ahead of the National Tax Conference, which will take place on May 3 and 4 in Skhirat.
Among the association’s grievances are measures adopted during the 2019 Finance Act as well as other provisions that only weaken, according to it, the structure of companies and disadvantage them compared to other existing entities, reports La Vie Eco.
ASMAEX thus requests the abolition of the minimum contribution, which is payable even in the event of a deficit, and which was revalued by 50% by the 2019 Finance Act, going from 0.50% to 0.75%.
Exporters also demand the generalization of the exemption from the professional tax to all the players in the sector regardless of their place of domiciliation. The exemption should not remain a right limited to offshore companies.
As for corporate tax, exporters are calling for the cancellation of operating subsidies received from the State or any state body, and instead propose a 5% reduction in corporate tax for industrial companies as well as a tax system adapted to this particular export sector.
