Moroccan Expats Stranded at Spanish Border, Await Reopening to Return Home

Moroccans residing in France are blocked in Ceuta, unable to reach Morocco as the borders remain closed. They hope for a reopening next week to reunite with their loved ones.
Morocco’s borders with Spain remain closed, much to the dismay of Spaniards and Moroccans residing in Spain and other European countries like France. Many Moroccans living in the latter country, mainly in Paris, are currently stranded in Ceuta with their luggage, desperately awaiting the reopening of borders to reunite with their loved ones, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
From Paris, they have crossed the entire peninsula by car to return to Morocco. A journey that went smoothly, they say, while deploring the lack of health measures throughout the trip, both at the Algeciras maritime station and the port of Ceuta. "We were about 40 passengers on the ship; but at no time did they take our temperature," says one of them, Badr Foukhary.
Now blocked in Ceuta, they will remain there until Morocco reopens its borders. A reopening they hope for on July 8, according to some unofficial sources. In the meantime, they plan to have a good time in Ceuta, especially enjoying its beach, Foukhary said.
