Moroccan Expats Join Pro-Palestinian Protests Across Europe

Moroccan expatriates (MREs) have demonstrated their solidarity with the Palestinians by participating in demonstrations organized in several European countries, including Spain.
On Saturday, 2,500 people marched peacefully in the center of Madrid in support of the Palestinian people, who are going through a difficult period since the flare-up of tensions between Israel and Palestine, reports AFP. "This is not a war, it’s a genocide!" chanted the protesters. "The silence of some is the suffering of others" or "Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Palestine"... are some of the slogans that can be read on the placards held by the protesters. Among them were Moroccans. "We are asking Spain and the European authorities not to collaborate with Israel, because they are collaborating through their silence" on the ongoing violence in the Middle East, explained Ikhlass Abousousiane, a 25-year-old Moroccan nurse.
In Morocco, a sit-in of solidarity with Palestine was organized in Rabat on Saturday, at the initiative of political, associative and human rights actors. Through slogans, the participants called for the immediate cessation of Israeli atrocities against the holy city and the continuous aggression in the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank, reports the MAP. They also urged the international community to exert pressure on Israel to respect the resolutions of the international community and to put an end to its atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Since Monday, tensions between Palestine and Israel have escalated. According to the latest assessment of the Israeli and Palestinian medical services, 109 people, including 29 children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip and seven others in the Hebrew state.
