Moroccan Expats Face Massive Delays at Ceuta Border Crossing During Holiday Return

Long queues are observed on the Moroccan side of the Tarajal border with Ceuta. Moroccans from Europe, at the end of their holidays in the kingdom, spend hours before entering the autonomous city as part of the return phase of Operation Marhaba.
It is difficult for Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) in their vehicles to cross the border with Ceuta to reach their cities of residence. The traffic jam is monstrous at the Tarajal border, forcing them to remain for hours in long queues before entering the autonomous city, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
MREs traveling with their motorcycles are also experiencing the same ordeal. The security forces are trying to manage the situation as best they can to streamline traffic as part of this return phase of Operation Marhaba. Pedestrian travelers are not spared either by these traffic jams.
Operation Marhaba started on June 15 and ends on September 15. It is currently in its second phase, that of the return of MREs to their countries of residence, after having finished spending their holidays in Morocco.
