Moroccan Expats in Europe Flood Ministry with Coronavirus Concerns

The monitoring, follow-up and guidance cell of the ministry in charge of Moroccans living abroad (MRE) received hundreds of messages from March 17 to 21. 92% of the questions are about the coronavirus.

It is the questions from MREs in European countries that, according to the department of Nezha El Ouafi, are at the top. "France comes first (21%), then Spain (14%), Germany (6%), Italy (4%) and Belgium (4%)," details the ministry. The same department also notes that the response rate for messages received by email is 98%. While the response rate on the Facebook page is around 94%. This brings the overall response rate to 95%.

The ministry claims to be coordinating with the various diplomatic representations of the Kingdom, which have created several special committees on this occasion. This allows it to closely monitor the situation in the various countries concerned. Even in this period when the state of emergency has been declared, the department has decided to ensure the continuity of the service for receiving and processing remotely the requests of Moroccan citizens residing abroad through its central services.

The same department reminds of the strengthening of its monitoring and communication system set up to guide and respond to the various questions and requests of Moroccans around the world. It is available 7 days a week via its website: https://marocainsdumonde.gov.ma// and its Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com//MDCMRE.MA.
