Morocco Assists Expatriates Amid COVID-19: Over 3,600 Inquiries Addressed

Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) have addressed 3,659 correspondences to the monitoring and guidance cell set up by the ministry delegated to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) after the appearance of the coronavirus.
After the creation of this monitoring and guidance cell, a permanent team has been answering the various questions of MREs, guiding them, since March 16, 2020. As of June 19, this body has received 3,659 messages on its website and Facebook page, the delegated ministry said.
The majority of these correspondences (98%) relate to the consequences of the covid-19 pandemic, while the remaining questions concerned requests for the transfer of remains or information on administrative procedures, the report specifies. Most of the requests received particularly concerned European countries, led by France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, then the Netherlands, the ministry continued.
The supervisory ministry has also set up a cell to receive remote complaints and made telephone numbers available to ensure the continuity of services related to the receipt of complaints or inquiries from MREs. During the period from March 16 to June 19, this cell received 4,109 telephone calls in the form of complaints and requests for information, in addition to the calls received by the decentralized services (the Houses of Moroccans of the World) in Beni Mellal, Tiznit and Nador, it is specified.
Another action: the creation of a network of Moroccan medical competencies in the world. This network has made available 40 doctors and specialists residing in 9 countries (France-Belgium-USA-Canada-Switzerland-Germany-Spain-Morocco-Italy) who offer medical and psychological assistance to Moroccans residing abroad during the period of health confinement and throughout the duration of this pandemic, given its physical and psychological effects on those affected or those who have lost their loved ones.
