A Moroccan expat has Mi Naima condemned: Prison and fine for the famous YouTuber
The criminal court on Thursday convicted the famous YouTuber "Mi Naima" and two accomplices for defamation and indecent exposure. The defendants had violently insulted a Moroccan living abroad and his wife through their respective digital channels.
The verdict handed down by the judge sentences her to four months in prison with a suspended sentence. Her accomplice receives six months with a suspended sentence, while another defendant was sentenced to ten months in prison. The three people will each have to pay a fine of 10,000 dirhams and jointly pay 30,000 dirhams in damages to the victim.
The case follows a complaint filed by a Moroccan from France. The latter explained that his vehicle had been filmed without his knowledge before the images, showing his registration, were broadcast on the YouTube channel. The video was accompanied by serious insults and defamatory statements affecting his and his wife’s honor, Goud reports.
The prosecutions by the public prosecutor’s office targeted acts of public indecency and the distribution of montages intended for defamation. The accused used their YouTube channels to make insults such as "homosexual" or "devoid of virility", while staging gestures with sexual connotations during live broadcasts in order to attract as many viewers as possible.
According to the victim, these repeated attacks were mainly aimed at generating financial gains by diverting the audience of his wife’s YouTube channel to theirs.
