Moroccan Expat Brutally Assaulted in Marrakech's Gueliz District

A Moroccan living abroad was savagely attacked, Monday around 5 a.m. in Marrakech, by a criminal gang composed of three individuals, in the middle of the Gueliz district.

A surveillance camera filmed part of the scene. As he got out of his car to make a phone call, he would have seen, according to noonpresse, 2 individuals on a motorcycle who were watching him. A few hours later he would have been attacked under the threat of a bladed weapon.

Around 5 a.m., the young man, who was returning from a trip to Oujda, was accosted by 3 people who asked him for a cigarette and then a lighter. The victim then informed them that he did not smoke. The attackers would then have brandished bladed weapons, asking him for his phone. As he tried to explain to them that they would not be able to resell it for more than 600 dirhams, they started beating him.

They relieved him of his phone and 800 dirhams he had in his possession before fleeing. The victim received several blows to the head.

According to the same source, this criminal gang would have committed three other attacks, the targets of which were women, before attacking the Moroccan expatriate.
