Moroccan Entrepreneur Launches Eco-Friendly Canned Wine Brand in Spain

The Moroccan Sana Khouja is, in Spain, the promoter of Zeena, an organic wine brand packaged in a 100% recyclable aluminum can. Created since 2019, the company is making its way.
Sana grew up in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona. A brilliant student, she obtained a scholarship from the Esade business school in Barcelona, which allowed her to continue her studies in New York. The 31-year-old woman had to work at the Mas Perinet del Priorat winery before becoming an entrepreneur. Fascinated by viticulture, and a born fighter, Sana Khouja took advantage of the health crisis period to refine her project.
In mid-2020, she created Mindful Drinkers, the company that owns the Zeena canned wine brand. "In Arabic, it means beauty and at the same time it reminds us of the name of the warrior princess Xena," she explains to La Vanguardia. The young businesswoman buys wine from local producers and then packages it in 100% recyclable aluminum cans. The company produces four certified organic wines, without additives and added sugars.
Sana Khouja’s Zeena wines are available in hotels, restaurants and cafeterias in Japan, Mexico, Finland, Ivory Coast, Norway and Andorra, and soon in the UK, the Netherlands, Canada and Colombia. They can be purchased via Amazon and the brand’s website. If Zeena manages to take its share of the market in festivals and music events, it could close the year with a turnover of more than 400,000 euros.
