Moroccan Entrepreneur Develops Smart Helmet to Combat Motorcycle Fatalities

In Morocco, motorcycles are the second leading cause of road deaths, accounting for about 29% of accidents, according to the latest report from the International Transport Forum (FIT), noting that the low rate of helmet wearing is the cause of the recorded deaths.

Entrepreneur Abid Khirani, concerned about this situation, has developed a helmet equipped with a device that alerts emergency services and loved ones in the event of an accident. Called Casky, this technological gem aims to make daily commutes safer by reducing motorcycle accidents by 70% in Morocco and even beyond.

Another security level of Casky, it is equipped with an anti-theft device, made of a smart lock with alarm functions. A second device assists the driver during the trip, and improves visibility when he wants to turn, brake or change gears. Already, the partnerships signed with a local assistance service and the competent authorities allow this start-up to accelerate emergency assistance, completes the media.

Casky won the "Scaling from Africa to Europe" prize from BPIFrance on December 1st during the AfricArena competition, an accelerator of the African technological ecosystem that encourages entrepreneurship, innovation and investment. This prize will allow Abid Khirani to establish himself in France and Europe, the site points out.
