Moroccan Embassy’s Mobile Consulate Sparks Controversy in Spanish City

The Moroccan embassy in Spain initiated on Saturday a "mobile consulate" in Valladolid in order to facilitate the obtaining of administrative documents for Moroccans residing in this city. The operation aroused the curiosity and indignation of the inhabitants.
The "mobile consulate" took place in Las Delicias, a working-class neighborhood of Valladolid, whose inhabitants noted the presence of cars from the Moroccan embassy. A total of five diplomatic cars with red license plates bearing the initials CD followed by the number 50 were parked on the sidewalk of the Delicias civic center on Paseo de Juan Carlos I, reports El Español.
Thus, the Moroccan consular administration is getting closer to Moroccans residing in regions far from Madrid, where the headquarters of the Moroccan consulate is based, to facilitate the processing of consular procedures for them. But the unusual presence of Moroccan diplomatic cars and the local police in this area aroused the curiosity and anger of the inhabitants of this neighborhood who finally learned that it was the organization of the "Mobile Consulate" for the benefit of Moroccans residing in Valladolid.
"We saw five cars from the Moroccan embassy and we didn’t know anything, because we weren’t warned," lamented Luis Miguel Trapote, the president of the Las Delicias neighborhood development association. We "need to know" what is "happening and what kind of actions" are being carried out in this civic center, he added. It should be noted that a large Moroccan community resides in the Las Delicias neighborhood where they run several businesses.
