Moroccan-Dutch Prodigy Mohamed Ihattaren Seeks Comeback at RKC Waalwijk

The Dutch midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren of Moroccan origin, once considered one of the greatest promises in European football, is attempting a new start at RKC Waalwijk.
After a series of tumultuous passages through prestigious clubs, the 22-year-old player finally seems to be on the right track, thanks to personalized support and an environment that seems conducive to his reconstruction.
According to psychiatrist Bram Bakker, involved in Ihattaren’s rehabilitation process, the initial objective was to focus on the human aspect before the sporting one. "We put aside the footballer to focus on the man Mo. The goal was to help him rebuild after the trials he has gone through, including the death of his father," he told AD.NL.
The team set up by football agent José Fortes Rodriguez, made up of former players, specialists but also Soufiane Touzani, has allowed Ihattaren to regain his balance. "We chose a place where he could feel safe and work on himself," explains Bakker. "He is a very sensitive boy who needs a caring environment."
The choice of RKC Waalwijk is not insignificant. The Dutch club is known for its human approach and its ambitious sports project. "It’s a club that suits Mo," says Bakker. "There, they don’t judge a player solely on his sports performance."
Despite the difficulties encountered in recent years, Ihattaren still has a talent that no one can contest. "No one knows how it will end, but we are talking about someone with exceptional talent," says Bakker. "He is as good as that."
The psychiatrist deplores the hasty judgments made about the player. "Who are you to say he will never come back? This boy has his whole life ahead of him."
