Moroccan-Dutch Footballer Anwar El Ghazi Seeks to Switch National Team Allegiance

Anwar El Ghazi regrets having played for the Netherlands. The Dutch footballer of Moroccan origin is currently in contact with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to change his sporting nationality.
Better late than never. After choosing in 2015 to play for the Netherlands, against the advice of his relatives, including his parents, Anwar El Ghazi has just expressed his desire to join the Moroccan national team. "I talked to my parents and I had conversations with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. My feeling has changed," he said on the ESPN channel.
However, he knows that the procedure can be long, but he hopes to take advantage of the Munir El Haddadi precedent who, after playing with Spain (13 minutes!), managed to bend FIFA thanks to strong mobilization from the FRMF and its president Fouzi Lekjaa.
In any case, Anwar El Ghazi knows that if there is a return to the Moroccan national team, it is not for right now given his current level. "Let’s be honest: I haven’t played for so long, I’m not in shape at all," acknowledged the PSV Eindhoven player.
