Moroccan Drug Trafficking Suspect Arrested in Spain on Belgian Warrant

Spanish National Police agents arrested a 61-year-old Moroccan man in Malaga at the end of February who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Belgian judicial authorities for drug trafficking.
The suspect, wanted by the Belgian authorities since 2018 for drug trafficking, was arrested in Malaga at the end of February, according to a statement from the Spanish National Police.
According to the arrest warrant issued by the Belgian judicial authorities, the Moroccan was a member of a criminal organization specializing in drug trafficking between Morocco and Belgium. He was reportedly arrested in 2018 in possession of a large quantity of drugs, then escaped Belgian justice, which issued an international arrest warrant against him that same year.
The Moroccan faces a 15-year sentence. Pending his transfer to the Belgian authorities, he has been made available to the competent court in the capital of the Costa del Sol.
